Traditional Silk Brocade Chapan Robe Coat : C1900 Turkmenistan 19th century Panel comprised of 3 narrowItem Details. A beautiful soft magenta silk brocade coat or chapan from the Turkmen of Turkmenistan dating from the early 20th century around 1900. The coat is traditional in style and has been lined throughout with an interesting soviet rollar printed cotton. The coats revers are lined with a lovely dark indigo, pink and white hand loomed silk ikat. The sleeve arms, front openings and hem are all finished with a black polished cotton chintz edging.
