by Sakai Oho -酒井鶯蒲(1808-1841) Bedroom Museum of the Imperial CollectionsOho was an Edo period master of the Rinpa school and a disciple of Sakai Hoitsu. He is a direct Rinpa School descendant of the great Tawaraya Sotatsu, who painted one of the most famous Japanese paintings in history. He is held in The MET, The Victoria & Albert, Art Institute of Chigago, The Tokyo National, The Burke Collection, Seattle Art Museum, and others. At first glance it may seem like the jikusaki (roller ends) are missing, but they are not.
