Sangue Morlacco translates to Morlacco blood, referring to the liqueurs deep red color and a group of people from the Dalmatian hinterland from the 17th and 18th centuries. The name was coined by Italian poet Gabriele DAnnunzio in 1919, after which the liqueur was renamed nearly a century after its creation.
